Help us break the silence.

Valerie - FGM survivor

Valerie Lolomari talks to Gbemisola David-West about on how doctors can best offer help to FGM survivors.

Our Mission

Women of Grace is a UK-based survivor led organisation. We advocate against the practice of Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) and all forms of Gender-Based Violence, educating about their lasting consequences and harms. Our grassroots organization engages with the community through workshops, talks, and activities to raise awareness and provide support services for those affected by FGM/C and abuse. We have no restrictions when it comes to supporting women and girls dealing with trauma from FGM and are committed to empowering them to recognize signs of abuse and where to get help to protect them from harm, regardless of their background, religion, or race.

Our Services

  • Female Empowerment courses Online / in Person

We deliver inclusive and engaging female empowerment courses both online and in person, designed to support women in building confidence, resilience, and a stronger sense of self-worth.

Our skills-building workshops are led by experienced and trained facilitators and speakers who create a supportive and encouraging environment for every participant. We understand that women come from diverse backgrounds, so our sessions are adapted to be accessible and inclusive—including for those whose first language is not English.

Through interactive activities, guided discussions, and practical learning, we help women develop essential life skills, improve self-esteem, and strengthen their ability to overcome challenges. Our courses focus on empowering women to recognise their strengths, build resilience, and take positive steps toward personal growth and independence.

By creating a sense of confidence, connection, and capability, we support women in becoming active, empowered individuals within their communities and beyond.

  • Educational Regular Online Workshops for women

We offer regular online workshops designed to educate, empower, and support women in a safe and accessible space. These sessions focus on raising awareness of harmful practices, including FGM, while providing accurate information in a respectful and culturally sensitive way.

Our workshops create opportunities for women to learn, share, and reflect, helping to build confidence and understanding around important issues that affect their lives and communities. Alongside awareness-raising, we place a strong emphasis on mental health and wellbeing—offering guidance, tools, and supportive discussions that help women strengthen their resilience and emotional wellbeing.

Participants are equipped with practical skills and knowledge that empower them to make informed decisions, support others, and become advocates for positive change within their communities. Through interactive sessions, open dialogue, and peer connection, we foster a sense of empowerment, belonging, and collective strength.

  • Peer Support

We provide a safe, welcoming space where women can come together to share experiences, build connections, and support one another. Our peer support network encourages open conversations, mutual understanding, and a sense of belonging.

Through meaningful interaction and shared learning, women are empowered to grow in confidence, strengthen their voices, and form lasting relationships. We foster an environment built on trust, respect, and compassion where every woman feels heard, valued, and supported on her journey.

We also encourage networking and collaboration, helping women connect with others who understand their experiences and can offer encouragement, guidance, and solidarity.

  • Referrals and signposting to other organisations / professionals

We collaborate with other specialist services and we refer women on for further intervention as the case maybe we also signpost the women to other specific services for support.

  • Safeguarding Workshops for Professionals & Schools

We deliver tailored safeguarding workshops designed to equip professionals, educators, and school communities with the knowledge and confidence to protect and support those at risk.

Our sessions provide practical guidance on recognising signs of harm, responding appropriately to disclosures, and understanding safeguarding responsibilities within different settings. We create a safe and engaging learning environment where participants can ask questions, explore real-life scenarios, and build confidence in their decision-making.

With a strong focus on prevention, awareness, and early intervention, our workshops empower professionals and schools to create safer environments for children and young people. We also highlight the importance of cultural sensitivity, clear reporting pathways, and collaborative working to ensure effective safeguarding practices.

  • Coffee Workshops

Our coffee workshops provide a relaxed and friendly space where women can come together, connect, and feel supported. These informal sessions create opportunities for open conversation, shared experiences, and building meaningful relationships within a safe and welcoming environment.

Over a cup of coffee, participants are encouraged to engage, network, and support one another while discussing topics that matter to them. The workshops help reduce isolation, promote wellbeing, and create a sense of community and belonging.

Whether attending for connection, support, or simply a chance to unwind, our coffee workshops offer a comforting space where every woman feels heard, valued, and included.

Our Aims

Community Support

Community is central to our work, and we want to help our community directly by getting them involved in our work and also through immediate and direct responses to those at risk, as well as the provision of resources.

Raising Awareness

At Women of Grace, we are constantly working to break the silence by raising awareness about FGM and gender-based violence, bringing a taboo topic to the forefront so that minoritised women and girls can access the support they deserve.

Making mental health mainstream

As we work to raise awareness about FGM and gender-based violence, we want to help break the stigma surrounding mental health in minoritised communities.
